What is a remote airbag crash data reset?
A remote airbag crash data reset is a file service that clears stored crash data from supported Audi, Volkswagen and Porsche SRS modules so the original module can be restored to service. You read the module file, send it, and receive the processed file back — from any country.
When the SRS module records an impact it stores crash data as a permanent fault. The module hardware is often undamaged, but the stored crash data keeps the airbag warning on until the data is reset or the module is replaced.
When is a crash data reset needed?
- Crash data stored in the SRS module
- Airbag warning light stays on after collision repair
- Module requiring reset after airbag or seatbelt pretensioner deployment
- Crash data stored even though the airbags did not deploy (pretensioners fired)
Why can't a scan tool clear crash data?
Crash data is written to the module's internal memory, not to the normal fault memory that a diagnostic tool can erase over OBD. The module has to be read and written with bench tools and the file processed. That is exactly what a file service does — you handle the reading and writing, VAGHAUS processes the data.
How does the remote airbag reset work?
- Contact on WhatsAppSend the vehicle, SRS module part number and your country.
- Compatibility confirmedWe confirm whether the module is supported before you send anything.
- File reading guidanceRemove the module and read its data on the bench; guidance is provided if needed.
- File sentYou send the original file and complete payment.
- Processed file returnedYou write the processed file back and refit the module after all deployed parts are replaced.
What do you need to send?
- Vehicle model and year
- SRS module part number
- The original module file
Offline file services do not require the VAGHAUS LB Connect Agent — that software is only used for live remote sessions.
Replacing other used modules after the collision? Donor infotainment, audio or climate units on Audi vehicles may also need a Component Protection transfer, which is available as a remote file service.
