What is an Audi Component Protection transfer?

An Audi Component Protection transfer is an EEPROM-based file service that adapts a replacement module to the vehicle by processing the Component Protection data of the original and replacement modules. VAGHAUS delivers it remotely to independent workshops in any country.

Component Protection (CP) is an anti-theft function that links selected electronic modules to the vehicle they were installed in. When a protected module is replaced with a used or donor unit, Component Protection becomes active and the module's functions are restricted until it is adapted. The transfer lets workshops complete authorized repairs with replacement modules.

Component Protection questions

What is Audi Component Protection?

Component Protection (CP) is an anti-theft function in Audi and other Volkswagen Group vehicles that links selected electronic modules to the vehicle they were installed in. When a protected module is replaced with a used or donor unit, Component Protection becomes active and restricts the module's functions until it is adapted to the vehicle.

What is an EEPROM-based Component Protection transfer?

It is a file service in which the Component Protection data in the EEPROM files of the original and replacement modules is processed so the replacement module can be adapted to the vehicle. You submit the required EEPROM files and VAGHAUS returns the processed files.

Which modules are supported?

MMI, MIB1, MIB2 and selected MIB3 infotainment systems; BOSE and Bang & Olufsen audio modules; climate control and comfort electronics; parking and trailer control modules; selected gateway and central electrical modules; selected steering authorization systems; and legacy electronic modules. Compatibility depends on the specific module hardware and software versions.

Which Audi models are supported?

Audi A1, A2, A3/S3/RS3, A4/S4, A5/S5, A6/S6, A7/S7, Q5, Q7, Q8 and selected e-tron models, depending on the module installed.

Can Component Protection be transferred remotely from another country?

Yes. The transfer is a file service, so workshops in any country can use it. You read and send the EEPROM files locally, and VAGHAUS processes and returns them over the internet. No module shipping is required.

What information do I need to send?

Send the vehicle model and the details of both the original and the replacement module, including part numbers and hardware and software versions. After the compatibility check, VAGHAUS tells you which EEPROM files are required.

My module is not listed. Can it still be supported?

Possibly. VAGHAUS continuously expands its supported module database, adding new vehicle platforms and electronic systems as compatibility profiles are developed and verified. Contact VAGHAUS with the module details to check compatibility.

How much does a Component Protection transfer cost?

Component Protection transfer starts from $35. The final price depends on the module and is confirmed after the compatibility check.

How do workshops outside Lebanon pay?
